Short Bio
Dr. Asgar Aghaei holds a B.Sc. degree in Hospital Administration, a M.Sc. degree in Health Services Management (IUMS), second M.Sc. degree in Health Services Research (EMC, NIHES), and a PhD degree in Quality Assurance Strategies in Healthcare (AMC/UvA). In August 2007, he joined the Department of Public Health at the Academic Medical Center (AMC), University of Amsterdam (UvA) as a PhD researcher to pursue his research project in “Quality assurance strategies in hospitals”. He also followed another Master of Science training in Health Services Research (HSR) simultaneously to his PhD training at the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (Nihes) at the Erasmus University and graduated from this institute in August 2012. He successfully defended his PhD thesis in October 2015. He worked as a Quality consultant in a private company (Hospital International Quality Services (HIQS) from July 2015 to April 2016) in the Netherlands. He was also working for a year (from May 2016) as quality manager in dental practice in the Netherlands. In July 2017, he joined to the School of Health Management and Information Sciences at Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS- the second top medical university in Iran- out of 65 medical universities) as assistant professor and multidisciplinary researcher at the department of Health Services Policy and Management; where he has involved in health-related research projects, education and supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students. In November 2017, he was appointed as Director of Accreditation and Ranking at the Office for International Affairs at IUMS, where he was exclusively conducted national/international accreditation and rankings for the University and several universities. His productive management at this position resulted to many achievements by the University at most common prestigious national/International Accreditation and Rankings. Asgar established “International Accreditation Secretariat” in 2022 and appointed as its director. He is working with many national and international accreditation bodies and ranking institutions. Recently, he has appointed as the Head of "Office of Health Affairs for Migrants and Refugees at IUMS.

He is an American professor and university administrator. Meadors has served as Dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma and of the College of Health, Social and Public Services at Eastern Washington University, CEO at Penn State Altoona, Chancellor at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and President of the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). In September 2011, Meadors resigned from UCA and subsequently served as Executive Director of the United Arab Emirates Higher Education Coordination Council and President of St. John International University.

Dr. Allen Coats Meadors is an American higher education educator and administrator who has worked in higher education in the United Arab Emirates and Northern Italy. He has served as president/chancellor of three US state universities. Penn State Altoona (Feb.1994-June 1999); University of North Carolina-Pembroke (July 1999-June 2009); and University of Central Arkansas (July 2009-September 2011). One of the few higher education professionals to be CEO of NCAA Division I, II and III institutions. Prior positions he has held includes: Dean of Health,Social and Public Services, Eastern Washington University; Dean of Public Health, University of Oklahoma; Chair of Department of Health Administration, University of Oklahoma; Executive Director of the Northwest Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute.
Dr. Meadors has over 50 publications and have spoken both nationally and internationally. He has served on various national advisory boards such as The Center for Health Care Inonovation, The Journal of Rural Health, Enrollment Management National Advisory Board, and numerous others. He has help raised well over 100 million dollars in external funds for the institutions he has been part of. He has served as master and dissertation chairs for hundred of students.

Dr Khan is a Dental graduate and his career is unique in a sense that he has been involved successfully in academics and management together for the last almost 21 years. He has more than 20 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and post graduate level. After doing his dental research masters from Queen Mary University of London he went on to do his master’s in health Professions Education from University of Maastricht, Netherlands and did his PhD in Medical Education from University of Ambrosiana, Italy. Dr Khan has presented in various conferences and hold key positions both at the National level and Internationaly. He is currently working as Deputy Vice Chancellor at Riphah International University, Islamabad, Pakistan. He is also the Board Member & Director for Centre of Excellence in Leadership, Innovation and Quality (CLIQ) at Ras Ul Khaima College of Dental Sciences (RAKCODS), UAE and one of the pioneers in launching the first ever Master’s program in Dental Education, Master of Science in Leadership & Dental Education (MSLDE) at RAKCODS. He is also a member of the Asia Pacific Biomedical Sciences Educators Association (APBSEA) Singapore. He is a visiting Prof of Medical Education at the Academy of Leadership Sciences Switzerland (ALSS) and representing them as their Director for South Asia & UAE. He is also the Ambassador at the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) USA and serving as a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council (USA). His special interests include Leadership & Management, Curriculum Development, Patient Safety in Health Care and Organisational Leadership. He is an innovator, critical thinker and a lifelong learner who is extremely fond of taking risks. He has an exceptionally friendly nature and his love for coffee is un matchable. He loves to think out of the box and has collaborated successfully with many organisations and individuals worldwide. Professor Akgun is a Professor of Public Health and Medicine in Baskent University School of Medicine and University of North Carolina-Pembrokewith more than 35 plus years of strong experience in quality and accreditation in health care and higher education, patient safety, epidemiological and nutritional studies, data management and statistical analyses. As an international expert and heath service researcher, Professor Akgun has been extremely active in the scientific presentation circles and has presented in excess of 400 presentations to a wide range of audiences world-wide. She is also a prolific writer and has to her credit more than 300 scientific articles, 2500 international citations, 16 books (8 in English) and 11 book chapters in such topics as quality and accreditation in health care, healthcare management, health system assessment and design, strategic planning and data management.

Professor Akgun is a Professor of Public Health in Baskent University School of Medicine University of North Carolina-Pembroke, USA with more than 35 years of strong experience in data management, statistical analyses, quality and accreditation in health care, patient safety and epidemiological studies including the assessment of burden of diseases and health and nutritional status indices. She is also a quality expert and serving Baskent University as their Chief Quality Officer for the 10 hospitals that belong to the University since 1997. During the past 20 plus years, Professor Akgun has been serving as a consultant in health sector reform projects, system assessments, and quality in health care, accreditation, gap analyses and performance measurements. The variety of research topics she has addressed with collaboration of several international technical supports demonstrates the wide scope of her interests in public and migrant health and her commitment to a comprehensive and holistic approach to health issues. She serves many European, Turkish and international organizations as their advisor on healthcare reform, quality in health care, accreditation in health and higher education, migrant health, community nutrition, system assessment and monitoring. She led a number of projects in the Middle East and Mediterranean Region (Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, and Turkey); Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan) and Europe including projects supported by World Bank, EU and WHO on system reform and evaluation of alternative care delivery models and mechanisms, performance assessment, hospital surveying, patient care outcomes assessment, migrant health, burden of disease among many more such projects. She has also worked as an epidemiologist at WHO/EURO Health Care Policies office, responsible from Central Asian Republic countries and accumulated considerable experience performing data management, system assessment, capacity building and performance measurements of variety of healthcare facilities in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. She serves a number of European, Turkish and international organizations as their advisor on public health, migrant health, quality in health care and patient safety and system development, data management and evaluation and monitoring and delivered hundreds of workshops and seminars on quantitative research design, implementation and analysis, Burden of Disease methodology, quality in health care and accreditation, patient safety and performance improvement to multiple health professional groups in Azerbaijan, India, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Germany, Pakistan and some other countries.
